For the annual Joy Drive, the Junior League of Lake Charles collects various items to provide to local youth during the holiday season. 2015’s Joy Drive benefitted the Educational and Treatment Council (which encompasses the organizations of the Transitional Living Program and Harbour House) and the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (LFAPA). Collections were held at Emily’s Toy Store and Axiall chemical plant. Items collected included fleece blankets, personal hygiene items, sheet sets, gloves, hats, ear buds, board games, coloring books, journals, cans of soda and snack food for movie nights, recreational items, and $20 Wal-Mart gift cards for the children of LFAPA to receive as a Christmas gift. Healthy Families committee members dropped off the gift cards and also helped LFAPA decorate for the annual Christmas party for their children.
