The Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana and the Junior League of Lake Charles, Inc. have partnered to provide virtual training, led by Beverly Brooks Thompson, PhD, CFRE, to help nonprofits in Southwest Louisiana hone their fundraising skills. The sessions are geared for executive directors of nonprofits as well as their volunteer Board chairs, fundraising chairs, and other interested board members. The sessions are offered at no charge and funded by the Junior League of Lake Charles, Inc. Zoom sessions will begin Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 4 – 6pm and be held for 5 consecutive Thursdays.
The Community Foundation surveyed the 32 nonprofit leaders from across the region whose organizations recently received Emergency Relief Grants from the Foundation. The results showed that the predominant concern of area nonprofits is the ability to stay solvent and continue their mission. “The leaders of these organizations told us that learning how to fundraise in these times where traditional fundraising events aren’t appropriate, how to engage their board members and current donors, were their biggest concerns,” said Sara Judson, CEO of the Community Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to partner with the Jr League to bring a leader in developing philanthropy to our region,” she added.
